Why do we always plan urban solutions to housing problems? Counter-urbanisation is a whole science of why people want to leave cities and still no one in town and country (perhaps is should just be “town”) planning seems to think about it at all. A subtler and more fine grain interpretation of settlement hierarchies and an understanding of how people in small rural communities can be encouraged in the interests of sustainability to have a few more houses each is a more sustainable solution to this issue.
