Gas bill to rise by as much as £100
Come one, come all, as we all knew the bandwagon is up and rolling now and notwithstanding the current balmy temperatures, the privatised utilities have a cold winter in store for the poor of rural England. Building on the reports of the Scottish Power price rises this article identifies how:
“British Gas is reportedly planning to announce price rises of as much as 20 per cent, adding more than £100 to the typical monthly bill. The rise would follow a 19 per cent rise in gas prices announced by Scottish Power as energy companies pass on the
soaring cost of wholesale gas to the consumer. The rises will hit households already struggling with rising living costs and higher taxes.”
I have some really interesting examples of local action in communities to address this sort of thing by local energy generation, which it seems to me is set in the face of this behaviour to become a quiet revolution! Local authorities can have quite a role to play if they wish in supporting the positive development of this agenda.
