Rolling Stones to headline Glastonbury 2013
Every year when the Glastonbury line up is announced I can feel my hands itching with this irrepresible need to evaluate the impact of the iconic event on the Somerset economy. This year its the Stones making me wistful for some evaluation action. I really do think we need to understand better how iconic rural activities like this contribute to the broader economy. The article itself tells us:
The Rolling Stones are the latest in a series of “heritage” acts who have headlined festivals in recent years. U2 headlined Glastonbury in 2012, Stevie Wonder took the Sunday slot in 2010 and in 2009 Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen headlined on Friday and Saturday.
Glastonbury will take place between Wednesday June 26 and Sunday June 30. Tickets for the festival, which had a year off in 2011, sold out last October.
…and dont they look great in their wizened grandeur – they seem to have the hues of old mellow cigars in the photos that accompany the article.
