When Mr Asbo was removed from the River Cam, punters and rowers who had suffered cuts and bruises from his attacks thought they could return to their boats safely. But now the violence has returned in the shape of Asboy, the next generation of the notorious Mr Asbo, who could prove to be more violent. Rowers and punters say Asboy has started pecking at people on punts, attacking boats and canoeists and flying directly into visiting families. Asboy has been seen patrolling the river, attacking anything in his path and there are fears a rower will soon end up seriously injured.

“He’s the most vicious swan I have ever seen,” said John Gale, 45, from Cambridge.
