Roman sandal found at Hadrian’s Wall looks just like David Beckham’s football boot

My friend and sometime Newcastle University rural guru Terry Carroll is a trustee at Vindolanda. I wonder if he planted this boot – which may have previously belonged to Alan Shearer rather than David Beckham – as part of a publicity drive….??? The plot thickens if you read below:

Archaeologists were left stunned when they uncovered a near 2,000-year-old shoe which looks just like the Adidas Predator football boot famously worn by David Beckham.

The distinctive ridges on the shoe’s outer shell and curved space for laces winding down to the toe give it an uncanny resemblance to the 21st century trainer.
